The Shannon deposit is located 4.5km south-west of the Checker processing plant at Mt Magnet.
Shannon was previously mined as a 60m deep open pit in 2001-2003. Recorded production is 151,000t @ 2.4g/t for 11,600oz. The Shannon mineralised lode is typically 2-8m thick and strikes north at around 015°. It dips east at an average of 40 to 50°.
Since October 2016, Ramelius has completed significant down dip RC and Diamond drilling which has defined a high-grade quartz vein lode continuing below the pit for around 300m.
A new Mineral Resource of 581 kt at 4.6 g/t for 86,000 ounces was generated in September 2017 (refer ASX release; ‘Shannon Resource & Exploration Update, 11-09-17‘).
Feasibility studies for a pit cutback and underground operation are progressing along with additional drilling.
