Focus on outcomes and impact

Don’t just list tasks, highlight what changed because you were in the role. Share examples that show you improved safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, cost, downtime, production or team capability.

Make it measurable

Use numbers wherever possible. Even simple measures help your application stand out, for example, percentages, time saved, incidents reduced, metres drilled, tonnes moved, availability improved, throughput uplift, costs avoided, or training completed.

Tailor your application to the role
Read the advert carefully, then reflect the key skills and requirements in your CV. Make it easy for the hiring team to see the match between what the role needs and what you’ve done.
Show how you work

Back up your stories with facts. What was the outcome? What did you change? What did you achieve? What feedback did you receive?

Be ready to talk about how you learn, adapt and improve. Share examples of taking on new responsibilities, learning quickly, or stepping into challenges to highlight your ambition.
Demonstrate values alignment through behaviour
